Academic Ranking of World Universities

Kobe University
English Name: Kobe University
Region: Eastern Asia
Country: Japan
Found Year: 1902
Address: 1-1 Rokkodai-cho, Nada-ku

Since its foundation over 110 years ago, Kobe University has been vigorously pursuing academic endeavor through the exploration and practice of novel theories in the spirit of "integrity, freedom, and cooperation". We have always been committed to the creation of knowledge in a broad range of fields from the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences to life and medical sciences. The University is made up of 10 faculties, 15 graduate schools, one institute and many centers covering these disciplines. One of our primary goals is fostering future leaders who possess wide-ranging interdisciplinary knowledge and strong leadership skills.

In the course of our quest for academic excellence, many of our research areas have gained considerable recognition worldwide as the University's "core research areas", and the number is increasing. A selection of them are also on the path to become "centres of excellence". With more researchers gathering here from around the world, Kobe University is focusing on ways to strengthen ties with international partners to work toward a common goal. Our six overseas offices, located across three continents, play a major role in facilitating such global partnerships.

To further internationalize its educational environment, Kobe University is creating double degree programs with its partner universities. As of today, Kobe University already has over 300 exchange agreements with foreign institutions, and out of these there are 25 ongoing double degree agreements with universities from Europe, Asia and North America. Kobe University is also introducing structural changes for the purpose of internalization. With the new quarter system, it is easier for Kobe students to start their study abroad at the beginning of a semester and to gain credits over a shorter period of time while in Kobe.
