Brief description Universidad de Chile is the most prestigious university in Chile and the largest among the public ones. With more than 40,000 students (undergraduate and graduate), 331 academic programs, 3,980 faculty, and 19 schools and institutes, the University has contributed decisively to the development of the country since 1842. Being the first University founded in Chile, its more than 55,000 alumni (2010-2022) stand out in the nation for their strong public service orientation.
