Introduction

Introduction National Chiao Tung University (NCTU), originally founded in Shanghai in 1896 under the name of Nanyang College, was re-established in Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 1958. The University has quickly become the forerunner in science and technology, laying a firm foundation for the later development of the Hsinchu Science Park (HSP), the “Silicon Valley” of Taiwan. Today, NCTU positions itself as a university of “holistic education, academic excellence, and technological innovation”. By incubating innovative and creative talent, NCTU aims to become a global hub for high-tech R&D and a top university in the world.
