Only an hour from the coast and an hour from Paris by train, the University of Rouen Normandy is ideally located. In its seven campuses in Normandy, URN offers every student the opportunity to develop and broaden their knowledge and skills with a choice of 375 courses in different subject areas delivered in six faculties, five institutes and one school of engineering: Law, economics and management; Arts, languages and humanities; Social sciences; Health; Science and technology; Science and techniques of sports and physical activities; Institutes of technology in Rouen and Evreux; School of management; National higher institute of teaching and education; Institute for the preparation of public administration; School of engineering in innovative technologies. The 38 research units, of which 15 are joint research units with the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM) and the National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRAE), are structured around three training and research domains: Chemistry, Biology and Health; Materials, Energy, Digital and Environment; Humanities, Culture and Societies. The URN participates in numerous international projects involving a large number of partner institutions from over 40 countries. Particular attention is given to transdisciplinary research, especially in the context of the institution’s actions and projects regarding Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Associated to the URN is the University Press of Rouen and Le Havre (PURH), which is a multidisciplinary press that publishes journals and books. The URN is also part of the COMUE Normandie Université, which, along with the two universities of Normandy, Caen and Le Havre, regroups a number of institutes, schools and establishments. The URN is a member of the INGENIUM European university alliance, which brings together world-class, transnational and interdisciplinary higher education and research institutions from 10 countries. The URN is aiming for a differentiated national positioning, based on its commitment to Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development, which was initiated over ten years ago. Obtaining the French DD&RS (Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development) label in September 2020 contributes to repositioning the university's missions with regard to the SDGs. The University of Rouen Normandy has a strategic plan for socio-economical transition validated by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research and linked to its success in the Excellences France 2023 call for projects: TRANSITION. This major project, developed in partnership with Rouen University Hospital, Normandy School of Architecture, INSA Rouen and CNRS, will be implemented within the T.URN Transitions Institute of the University.
